Q: What clamps
do I need to do a standard top? A: To do a standard
22" or 25" top we recommend using (2) SR4X models and it is a good idea to also have an SR18SB.
Q: What is the SR18SB used for? A: It is used for extra adjustment to the seam bewteen the two SR4X models.
Q: What is the SR2X model used for? A: The SR2X is used for pieces between 5" & 11" wide
that are too small for the SR4X. It is also good to go between (2) SR4X when you can not fit a third SR4X.
On a 30" bar for example.
Q:
Do the suction cups work on all solid surfaces?
A:
Yes, but some solid surface (such as Wilsonart) are rough sanded from the factory and may need
to be sanded smoother so the suction cups can get a good seal. Q: How do you get the edges lined up?
A: If the edges don't stay even, you can use a standard spring clamp to hold them in place until
the adhesive dries. Q: Will the
clamps work on granite?
A: Not good, granite
is usually too porous and the cups will not keep a good seal. Q: Will the clamps work on quartz (engineered stone)?
A: The clamps were designed for solid surface, but they can work on quartz. Due to the
extrem weight of the quartz, it is not easy to pull & level the seam.
Q: Will the clamps work on laminate? A: Yes, they will work good as long as the finish is not too rough that the suction cups can't
get a good seal. The clamp hold time may vary depending in laminate finish. Q: What is the best thing to clean the clamp bottoms and top surface? A: Clean water or any mild cleaner that will not cause damage to
the suction cups or create a residue or build up on them. We have been told (but not tested) that the 3M Citrus
Cleaner is great for cleaning all types of surfaces. It is for cleaning and maintaining the rubber pads on seam clamps.
Q: Can we use the clamps to carry items? A: NO, the clamps are not designed for carrying items and by doing so you risk severe damage to the clamps,
materials and injuring yourself or someone close! Plus it will void all warranty claims on the clamps.
Q: The clamp is releasing before the adhesive
has cured. What is the problem? A: It can be a few things causing this.
Make sure the countertop surface and suction cup bottoms are very clean and undamaged. The countertop surface also
needs to be very smooth. Some solid surface (such as Wilsonart)
are rough sanded from the factory and may need to be sanded smoother so the suction cups can get a good seal. Rough
& dirty surfaces can cause suction cups to release early. Make sure to press down firmly when engaging
the suction cups. We have been told (but not tested) that the 3M Citrus Cleaner will increase the holding strenght
of the cups.
